Since 1 July 2025 districts no longer exist; the area now comprises Xóm Chiếu, Khánh Hội, Vĩnh Hội wards, HCMC. Locals still use the old district name.

Former District 4 sits between Ben Nghe canal, Te canal and the Saigon River, linked to District 1 by Khanh Hoi, Ong Lanh, Calmette and Mong bridges. Vinh Khanh food street is known for snail, grill and seafood eateries, busiest at night. Khanh Hoi port and Nha Rong wharf (the Ho Chi Minh Museum) face it across the canal. Xom Chieu and Khanh Hoi are long-standing local markets.

Since 2025 the area forms Xom Chieu, Khanh Hoi and Vinh Hoi wards. District 4 is about 9–10 km from Tan Son Nhat, usually 30–45 minutes, and about 10 minutes from Phu My Hung in District 7. Streets around Vinh Khanh are narrow, so drivers meet guests at Hoang Dieu or Doan Van Bo.
