Which wards make up Thu Duc now
Thu Duc City, formed in 2021 from District 2, District 9 and Thu Duc District, ceased to exist when the district tier was abolished on 1 July 2025. The area is now wards directly under Ho Chi Minh City, including Thu Duc (the old Thu Duc market area), An Khanh (Thao Dien, An Phu, Thu Thiem), Binh Trung, Cat Lai, Long Binh, Tang Nhon Phu, Linh Xuan, Hiep Binh, Tam Binh, Phuoc Long, Long Phuoc and Long Truong.
When booking, give the building or estate name with the new ward; drivers still understand "District 2" and "District 9".
Out of town from Thu Duc: the eastern gateway advantage
The HCMC – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway is only a few km away via the An Phu interchange, so trips to Vung Tau, Phan Thiet, Da Lat or Nha Trang avoid crossing the city. The Bien Hoa – Vung Tau expressway and the Phan Thiet – Dau Giay section shorten beach runs. For the former Binh Duong take Highway 1K or 13; for the Mekong Delta take Ring Road 2 to the Trung Luong expressway.
Long Thanh Airport is not yet in commercial operation; flights still use Tan Son Nhat, about 15 km from central former Thu Duc.
