Tan An, Long An to Tan Son Nhat airport is about 50–60 km, usually 1–1.5 hours on the HCMC – Trung Lương expressway. Since 2025, Long An has been part of the enlarged Tây Ninh province, but the road to the airport is unchanged: the hard part is the last stretch through the city, not the expressway. This guide compares routes from Tân An, Bến Lức and Đức Hòa, how to time early flights, and pick-ups from the airport back home.

        Three usual routes

The hard part: the last 15 km

From Bình Tân to Tân Bình, the car crosses the busiest roads on the west side of the city. In the morning peak, roughly 6:30–8 a.m., and the evening peak, 4:30–7 p.m., this stretch can take twice as long as normal. Afternoon rain in the wet season and the days before Tết make it worse. A driver who knows the route picks the way to the domestic or international terminal based on live traffic.

        Timing your departure

The other way: airport pick-up to Long An

Send your flight number when booking so the driver can track the actual landing time; there is no airport waiting fee. Evening arrivals often hit the rush hour on the way out of the city. With a lot of luggage, choose a 7-seater or larger: a 4–5 seat car takes about 3 suitcases, a 7-seater about 4.

        Other notes

Former Long An after the merger: addresses and routes

Since 2025 former Long An belongs to the new Tây Ninh province. When booking, use the new names or send a map pin. Tân An, Bến Lức, Cần Giuộc and Đức Hòa still reach Tân Sơn Nhất on familiar routes; for Long Thành, the Bến Lức – Long Thành expressway avoids the city centre.

Sightseeing before or after your flight

        Sight Area Tip
Hundred-column house Cần Đước Old wooden house in southern style
Tân Lập floating village Plain of Reeds, north of former Long An Cajuput forest, raised walkways; flood season Sept–Nov
Tân An market, Vàm Cỏ Tây river Central Tân An Market stroll, breakfast

Tân Lập is well north of Tân An, so make it a full day.

        Local specialities

Check baggage rules before flying with spirits; pack fruit in sealed boxes.

From the airport to former Long An

        1. Send flight number, terminal and airport (Tân Sơn Nhất or Long Thành).
        2. The driver tracks the flight, waits in the car park and comes to the lane when you have your bags; no airport waiting fee.
        3. Head to Tân An or Bến Lức via the HCMC – Trung Lương expressway or Highway 1 depending on time.

Former Long An has no North–South passenger station; rail travellers alight at Saigon station and book a car from there.

        Luggage and vehicle

        Vehicle Luggage
        4–5 seat About 3 suitcases
        7 seat About 4 suitcases
        16 seat, 9-seat limousine About 6–8 suitcases

Timing the airport run by flight time

Flight time Leaving Tân An Why
Before 8:00 Before dawn, clear roads Beat the inbound rush after 6 a.m.
10:00–15:00 Add a buffer for the last stretch Roads round the airport are busy all day
16:00–20:00 Leave earlier than usual Clashes with the evening rush
International Allow extra check-in time Arrive as early as the airline advises

The hardest part is usually the last few kilometres around the airport. The driver picks a route by time of day; just give your flight time and terminal.

        Tết: travelling against the flow

Before Tết most traffic heads from Ho Chi Minh City to the delta, so morning runs from former Long An to the airport are usually clearer than the reverse. The area around Tân Sơn Nhất, though, is packed with flyers late in the lunar year. After Tết the return peaks on the afternoon of the 5th day (10 February 2027); if flying then, leave early. Tết bookings need a deposit of about 10%; every quote gets 10% off and chauffeur prices include fuel and tolls.

Long An is now part of Tây Ninh: giving your address

Since 1 July 2025, Long An has been part of Tây Ninh province, with the new provincial centre in Tân An. Many documents, signs and map apps still show old names such as Bến Lức, Đức Hòa and Cần Giuộc. When booking, give the street, the new ward or commune, a landmark and a map pin. For industrial parks, name the company and the gate, as some parks have gates far apart. If a 16-seater cannot enter your lane, meet on the nearest main road.

        When to reach the airport

Airlines usually advise arriving about 1.5–2 hours before domestic and about 3 hours before international departures. From Tân An, add drive time and a buffer for the south-western city approaches in the morning and evening peaks; the driver proposes a pickup time from your flight number. For arrivals we track the actual landing and meet you in the arrivals hall, with no waiting fee if you are late.

        About Long Thành airport

Long Thành is opening in phases: phase 1 runs to 27 March 2027 with some domestic and short international Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet routes, and long-haul routes move across from 28 March 2027. Check which airport is on your ticket before booking. Long Thành is further from Tân An than Tân Sơn Nhất, so the driver will adjust the pickup time. We serve both airports.

        Choosing a vehicle

        Group Vehicle Luggage
        1–3 4–5 seater about 3 suitcases
        4–6 7-seater about 4
        Large family send-off 16-seater or 9-seat Limousine about 6–8

Child seats on request. Chauffeur prices include fuel and tolls; 10% off every quote; 8% VAT invoice on request. 2022–2025 models, including VinFast EVs.

        Seeing off or meeting family

Families often want several people to come to the airport. Only ticketed passengers can enter the departures area, so farewells happen in the hall. For arrivals, the driver arranges a meeting point in the designated parking area and messages the pillar or door number. A 16-seater or 9-seat Limousine carries the whole group with luggage; returning travellers with many cases should tell us the count.

        If your flight time changes

When the airline changes the time or terminal, message the driver the new details. For arrivals, a pre-booked car tracks the landing anyway; for departures, we reset the Tân An pickup time so you do not wait long at the airport.

Plan your car trip to Tan An

For a Tan An airport pickup, provide a specific address rather than only the Long An area name. Send your flight date, departure time, airline-confirmed terminal and luggage quantity so we can advise on pickup time. Agree on the order of any additional pickups and allow time at each stop. Confirm the quote for the actual address and vehicle and ask how passenger waiting or extra stops are charged. Do not plan arrival close to the check-in deadline based only on an estimated driving time.

View the destination reference point on the map. This marker identifies the destination area; confirm the exact pickup address or meeting point when booking.
