Phu Quoc International Airport is close to Duong Dong town, roughly 10 km, so many hotels there are 15 to 25 minutes away. Resorts on the southern beaches such as Bai Sao and around An Thoi can be 25 to 40 minutes or more. The island is long, so the area of your hotel matters more than the airport itself.
Couples fit a 4-seater, families a 7-seater, and groups travelling with luggage a 16-seater.

Tip from Car Rental Vietnam: If your resort is in the south, ask whether cars can drive in to the lobby; some resorts are large and the reception is a long way from the gate.
Phu Quoc has one terminal with domestic and international arrival areas. Under airport rules, cars may stop for 3 minutes. Your driver waits with a name sign at the exit of your arrival area and walks you to the pickup zone outside. Resorts in the north or south of the island are a fair drive away, so include the resort name and suitcase count when booking. Phu Quoc is now a special zone of An Giang province; some maps still say Kien Giang.

Yes, Duong Dong town is about 10 km away. Southern resorts are farther.
