What is changing

According to a travel-industry guide, Phu Quoc is hosting APEC 2027 and has 21 major infrastructure projects underway at the same time, along with new resorts such as LUXNAM Phu Quoc. Construction can affect road conditions in places, so allow some extra time between stops.

Getting around

Phu Quoc is reached by air or sea from the mainland, so pickups on the island are arranged separately from Ho Chi Minh City transfers. Pre-book an airport pickup and a half-day or full-day island hire.

Some hotels are on small roads or near construction sites. Leave extra time between stops, especially when you have a fixed time to meet, such as a flight, a boat departure or a tour.

Arranging cars on the island

• Airport pickup: book ahead and send your flight number. The driver tracks your flight, and airport transfers do not charge waiting time. See the Phu Quoc airport transfer guide.
• Island tours: hire a car for half a day or a full day, for example to the southern island sights or to Tranh Stream.
• Hotels on small roads: send the map location when you book so the driver can choose a suitable way in.

Prices for cars with a driver include fuel and road tolls; all quotes currently get 10% off, and invoices include 8% VAT. Child seats are available on request for family day tours.
