Administrative changes to know
Since 1 July 2025 former Long An joined the new Tay Ninh, with its centre in Tan An.
The two-tier model (province, then commune or ward) applies from 1 July 2025, so old district names no longer appear on new documents. When booking for Long An, old names, new names or a map pin all work.
Pick-up areas and choosing a vehicle
HCMC to Tan An is about 50 km via the Trung Luong expressway, about an hour. Tan Lap floating village (former Moc Hoa) is about 100 km from HCMC.
Industrial park trips
Industrial parks in Ben Luc, Duc Hoa and Can Giuoc are close to HCMC; a 4- or 7-seater can collect you at your hotel or Tan Son Nhat, by the day if needed.
Heritage and specialities
The Vam Nhut Tao relic in Tan Tru marks Nguyen Trung Truc's 1861 attack on the ship Espérance. The Hundred-Column House in Can Duoc is a late 19th-century wooden home with 120 columns. Long An is known for Cho Dao fragrant rice, Long Tri watermelon and Chau Thanh dragon fruit.
Tan Lap floating village and Can Giuoc
Tan Lap floating village in former Moc Hoa, about 120 km from HCMC, is flooded melaleuca forest with wooden boardwalks several kilometres long, a lookout about 40 m high and canoes through duckweed canals. Lang Sen reserve in Tan Hung has lotus, birds and melaleuca. The Hundred-Pillar House in Can Duoc is an early 20th-century wooden house with exactly 120 columns.
Since 2025 Long An is part of the new Tay Ninh province. It borders HCMC, so many guests make day trips: Ben Luc and Tan An are about 45–50 km via the Trung Luong expressway. Specialities include Chau Thanh dragon fruit, Can Duoc sausage, Go Den rice spirit, Ben Luc pineapple and Cho Dao fragrant rice.
Tan Lap is reached via Highway 62; 29- and 45-seaters can reach the tourist area's car park.

The Hundred-Pillar House is open to visitors with a ticket. Tan Lap lotus season runs about May–August.
