Phu Quoc Airport is in the middle of the island, so you can head north or south, but rarely both on one layover. Duong Dong town and the night market are only about 10 km away, Grand World at Bai Dai about 32 km north, and Sao Beach and Sunset Town about 18-21 km south.

A resort town in the south with Mediterranean-style buildings, close to the sea-crossing cable car to Hon Thom. It fits only longer windows. (21 km)
A shopping and entertainment district at Bai Dai in the north of the island, with rows of shophouses, stores and eateries; good for strolling, gifts and photos. (32 km)

Short layovers fit Duong Dong (about 10 km). Grand World to the north suits 8-10 hours; the south with Sao Beach and Sunset Town suits long windows.
Duong Dong night market runs mainly in the evening, which suits a late-night or next-morning onward flight.
