Unlike Saigon, Noi Bai is about 25-27 km from Hanoi's Old Quarter, across the Red River. Each leg therefore takes a real share of your layover, and the plan needs a sensible direction: the West Lake area lies on the way back to the airport, while the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake are farther.

Times are approximate, from free-flowing to busy traffic, and only a guide; traffic, weather and time of day can change them.
| Destination | km | Approx. Drive time |

Usually yes, if you can enter Vietnam and have a car waiting. Each way is about 25-27 km, which leaves a few hours in town; see the 10-hour plan above.
About 25-27 km by route data, usually 30-50 minutes in quiet hours. Allow extra time at rush hour.
With 6 hours we suggest West Lake and Lotte Mall West Lake, about 20-24 km away on the airport side; the Old Quarter suits longer windows.
Cafe Giang, a long-running address linked with egg coffee, is near Hoan Kiem Lake and fits easily into an Old Quarter walk.

Confirm entry requirements, baggage arrangements and the airline’s required airport return time before booking the car. Choose a few stops that fit the time actually available rather than trying to complete a long list. Include passenger numbers, luggage and the latest departure time from the city, and agree on arrangements if the inbound flight is delayed.
