Season and timing
Sunsets are clearest in the dry season, November to April. The rainy season still has sunny afternoons, and showers are usually short. Arrive about an hour before sunset to walk the streets.
Hon Thom cable car
The cable car station is right in Sunset Town, and the line crosses the sea over small islands to Hon Thom, which has a water park and beach. One way takes about 15–20 minutes. Many visitors ride in the morning, come back to Sunset Town for the sunset, watch the evening show and then call the car.
A day around An Thoi
Beyond Sunset Town, An Thoi has an early-morning fishing port, seafood restaurants along the harbour and snorkelling boats to the southern islands such as Hon May Rut and Hon Gam Ghi. Phu Quoc Prison, a wartime relic, lies on the road north from An Thoi. You can take a boat in the morning, return to Sunset Town in the afternoon and watch the show at night.
