About Paradise Cave
Paradise Cave is in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, Quang Tri (former Quang Binh), known for its long galleries of stalactites. Electric carts run from the car park to near the cave entrance.
A long dry cave inside the mountain
The cave was found by a local man in 2005 and surveyed afterwards by the British Cave Research Association, which recorded about 31 km of passage. It opened to visitors in 2010 with about 1 km of wooden walkways in the main chamber; a 7 km deep tour must be booked separately. Inside are ivory-white stalactites and stalagmites, and with no underground river, unlike Phong Nha cave, it can be visited all year.

Choosing a car for the caves
The roads from Dong Hoi to Phong Nha and Paradise Cave are paved, and 4–7 seaters ride smoothly. Families with older members should take a 7-seater for bags and walking sticks. Company groups of 20–40 use 29 or 45-seaters, which park in the cave's large car park. The driver waits throughout, so a day combining two caves needs no change of vehicle.
Getting inside
From the car park an electric buggy runs about 1.5 km to the foot of the hill, then about 500 stone steps climb to the entrance. The cave stays cool all year, around 20 °C. The walkway visit takes about 1.5–2 hours including the climb. Older visitors should rest at the shelters along the slope.
- Good season: March to August, when paths are dry.
- In the rainy season it is open on nearly all days, but the road from Phong Nha can flood in places during big floods.
- Wear trainers and bring water; a torch is optional as the cave is lit.
The western Ho Chi Minh Road
The cave is close to the western branch of the Ho Chi Minh Road, a quiet route through the Phong Nha – Ke Bang forest flanked by forested limestone peaks. Along it are Tam Co Cave, a memorial to eight young volunteers killed in 1972, and the Tra Ang suspension bridge. If you like a slow scenic drive, ask us to route your trip this way.
