For a school trip, seat count is only part of the plan. Confirm pupil ages, accompanying teachers, headcount routines and a responsible adult for each vehicle before organising the journey.
Use a manifest for each coach, count at boarding and unloading, and have an adult inspect every row. Record any vehicle change. Agree school handover, an unwell-pupil procedure and parent contacts, and ask the operator to confirm the applicable school-transport vehicle requirements.

A class of about 40 pupils with two or three teachers fits one 45-seater coach; smaller groups use a 29-seater. Coaches are 2022 to 2025 models and insured.
