Phu Yen and Tuy Hoa by car: Ganh Da Dia, Mui Dien and avoiding the storm season. Former Phu Yen is now part of Dak Lak province after the 2025 merger, with Tuy Hoa as a coastal ward. The eastern North–South expressway makes travel between Quy Nhon, Tuy Hoa and Nha Trang easier.

        Getting there

Tuy Hoa has an airport. By road, see Quy Nhon to Tuy Hoa private car or Nha Trang to Tuy Hoa private car.

When to go, up to Tết 2027

Roughly September to December is the rain and storm season on the central coast, with rough seas and local flooding. From January the weather usually dries, better for coastal sightseeing. Around Tết, prices are higher than usual.

        What to see

        Food and tips

Ocean tuna, O Loan blood cockles and chive noodle soup are well-known dishes. At Ganh Da Dia the rocks are slippery in waves; stay back from the edge. On heavy-rain days, ask about coastal roads before setting out.

        Choosing a vehicle

Families: a 7-seater. Groups: a 16-seater or 29-seater. Continue to the highlands: car to Buon Ma Thuot.

Lock in Phu Yen dates near Tết early: Tết bookings need about a 10% deposit and quotes are always 10% off. Chauffeur prices include fuel and tolls; 8% VAT invoices on request.

        FAQ

Which province is Phu Yen in now?

Since 2025, former Phu Yen is part of Dak Lak province.

        Is November a good time?

Possible, but keep a spare day because of storms.

Tuy Hoa road trip: Phu Yen is now part of Dak Lak

Beach and seafront promenade on the central coast

Since 1 July 2025 the former Phu Yen province belongs to Dak Lak, with Buon Ma Thuot as the provincial centre. The coast is unchanged: Ganh Da Dia basalt columns north of Tuy Hoa and Mui Dien lighthouse to the south fit into one day by car. Go to Ganh Da Dia early, before the rocks heat up, and reach Mui Dien in the afternoon. Continuing inland to Buon Ma Thuot makes a coast-to-highlands loop. See Saigon to Buon Ma Thuot and Saigon to Cam Ranh.

Choose a coastal route that starts where you are staying

If you are staying in Tuy Hoa and want to see Ganh Da Dia and Mui Dien, tell us which visit matters most and how much time you have. These are separate outings from Tuy Hoa. Ganh Da Dia can anchor a trip north of the city, while Bai Mon and Mui Dien are useful stops to group on the southern side. You can ask for both in a single itinerary if you have time for the driving and the visits. If your group wants a long lunch or several photo stops, keeping one area for the next morning may make the day easier to manage.

Send the pickup address your driver can actually reach. If you are staying at a beachfront property, ask reception which entrance cars should use. For an airport pickup, give us the flight number, luggage count and whether you are going straight to the first stop or checking in first. If you want to start early for Mui Dien, ask about current access and opening arrangements before fixing your pickup. Give the driver an agreed meeting point so your group knows where to return after walking around.

Decide what you want the car to do between stops

A hotel transfer and a private car for sightseeing serve different needs. A transfer is useful when you only want a ride from the airport or station to your accommodation. A sightseeing booking can include a list of stops and agreed waiting periods. If you expect the driver to wait while your group walks, takes photos or has lunch, list those visits when asking for a quote. Tell us whether you want to finish at the same hotel or be dropped at a different address.

For example, a family might start after breakfast, visit Ganh Da Dia and stop for lunch before returning to Tuy Hoa. Another group might leave early for Bai Mon and Mui Dien and end the trip at the airport. For the second plan, share your flight departure time and decide which sightseeing stop you would drop if the schedule runs late. Keep enough time for the airport approach, unloading and check-in. A route that looks short on the map may still require time to park, meet the driver and get everyone back into the car.

Choose a vehicle around the group and its bags

Share the number of adults and children, then list suitcases and any larger items separately. If someone needs a folding wheelchair or has difficulty walking from a car park, let us know before booking. Confirm where the vehicle can drop passengers and where the group should meet it afterwards. If you are carrying bags between a hotel and the airport, ask whether the assigned vehicle has room for the luggage with every passenger seat you need in use.

If you want to drive yourself, decide where you will park at each stop and confirm the return time and location with the rental team. For a chauffeured trip, ask for a written quote showing the agreed route, included waiting and how extra stops are priced. Send your hotel or airport pickup, preferred coastal stops, passenger count and luggage through our private car booking page.
