Nha Trang car rental with driver has become a real alternative to flying, now that the North – South Expressway runs continuously from Ho Chi Minh City to Van Phong (since 1 January 2026). After Khanh Hoa merged with Ninh Thuan in 2025, the new province stretches from Van Phong to Vinh Hy, and central Nha Trang is now Nha Trang ward. These are notes from the Car Rental Vietnam team for travellers driving up, and for those flying into Cam Ranh and continuing by car. The route and parking tips below should be especially useful.
On 18 August 2026, the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched the destination brand "Khanh Hoa – Four Bays Journey", linking the bays of Nha Trang, Cam Ranh, Van Phong and Vinh Hy into one route (Cong Luan newspaper). For road trippers it is a good reason to stay longer: one day in Nha Trang, one day south to Cam Ranh – Vinh Hy or north to Van Phong.
Kong Forest lies in the Hon Ba Nature Reserve, about 40 km from central Nha Trang. It has a forest zipline with 26 platforms and 9 runs, ATV rides and river rafting at Suoi Nguon. Open since 2019, it is increasingly mentioned as a "forest" option alongside the beach, and suits groups of young friends or families with older children.

For seafood, try Thanh Suong on Tran Phu street, about 150,000 – 1,000,000 VND per dish. It is busy, so book a table.
From Ho Chi Minh City, follow the eastern North – South Expressway via Long Thanh, Dau Giay, Phan Thiet, Vinh Hao and Cam Lam, then turn off to Nha Trang, roughly 400 km depending on your start point. If you fly into Cam Ranh Airport, the car takes Nguyen Tat Thanh Boulevard into the centre.

On long expressway drives take a break about every 2 hours. With an electric car, plan charging stops in advance.
For families of 4 – 7 on a trip of 4 days or more who want to add Phan Thiet or Vinh Hy, driving is more flexible. For a short 2 – 3 day trip, flying to Cam Ranh and renting locally saves time.
Send your flight number when booking. The driver tracks the actual landing time and meets you on arrival.
Vinh Hy is to the south, past Cam Ranh. Allow a full day so you do not have to rush.
