Overview

Mui Ne – Phan Thiet is a long stretch of coast in south-eastern Lam Dong province (Binh Thuan before July 2025), now much quicker to reach from Ho Chi Minh City thanks to the expressway. It suits a two or three-day trip: dunes or the fishing village at dawn, a midday rest at a beach resort, and the Fairy Stream or Po Shanu towers in the afternoon. Going further, Bau Trang to the north and Ke Ga lighthouse and Ta Cu Mountain to the south each need an extra half day. The sights are spread over tens of kilometres of coast, so a private car with driver helps you group them and be on time for sunrise and sunset.

Best time to visitMany people choose the dry season from about November to April for little rain; VnExpress suggests April–August for clear water, while August–December has strong winds that suit kitesurfing. Visit the dunes at sunrise or late afternoon to avoid the harsh sun.

Getting thereFrom central Ho Chi Minh City, take the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway and continue on the Dau Giay – Phan Thiet expressway: about 210–230 km. In practice it usually takes 3–4 hours depending on departure time and traffic leaving the city.
