Da Nang Airport sits almost in the middle of the city: the Dragon Bridge and the Han River are only about 3 km away. That is a rare advantage on a layover, as the bulk of your time goes to sightseeing. With a longer window, Hoi An's old town about 30 km down the coast road is a popular add-on.

Times are approximate, from free-flowing to busy traffic, and only a guide; traffic, weather and time of day can change them.

Hoi An is about 30 km from the airport, usually 35-60 minutes each way. From about 10 hours you can pair it with a few Da Nang stops.
Ba Na is about 30 km away but needs a lot of time for the cable car and visit, so we leave it out of layover plans.
The Dragon Bridge, the Cham Sculpture Museum and riverside cafes are only about 3-4 km away, suitable even for a 6 hour window.
