Overview

Da Nang and Hoi An suit a 3–4 day trip because the sights fall into clear clusters. Central Da Nang is handy for My Khe beach, the Son Tra peninsula, the Marble Mountains and Ba Na Hills. Hoi An is best in the late afternoon and evening; with extra time, spend half a day at the My Son sanctuary. A private car with driver lets you set pickup times, stops and luggage when combining several places in one day.

Best time to visitFebruary to August is usually good for beach plans and outdoor sightseeing. The central Vietnam rainy season can disrupt travel, especially to Son Tra, Ba Na and My Son; check the weather close to your travel date.

Getting thereDa Nang International Airport is close to the city centre. Da Nang to Hoi An usually takes about 45–75 minutes depending on pickup point and traffic; My Son takes longer as it lies to the west of former Quang Nam. For groups, fix the order of stops beforehand to avoid doubling back.
