About Vinh Airport
Vinh Airport (VII) is north of Vinh city in Nghe An. Drivers take you into Vinh, to Cua Lo, Kim Lien or Ha Tinh.

Administrative changes to know
Since 1 July 2025, districts and provincial cities no longer exist as an administrative tier. Under Resolution 1678/NQ-UBTVQH15, the former Vinh city area (including former Cua Lo town and parts of former Nghi Loc and Hung Nguyen districts) was reorganised into six wards: Truong Vinh, Thanh Vinh, Vinh Hung, Vinh Phu, Vinh Loc and Cua Lo. The airport sits in former Nghi Lien commune, now Vinh Hung ward.
Old central Vinh (Quang Trung, Le Loi, Cua Nam) is now Thanh Vinh ward; Ben Thuy, Truong Thi and Hung Dung are now Truong Vinh ward; Cua Lo beach is in Cua Lo ward. Locals still say "Vinh city" and "Cua Lo town". Write your address with either the old or new name; our drivers know both.
Pick-up areas and choosing a vehicle
The airport is about 8 km north of central Vinh, roughly 15–20 minutes by car. It closed from 1 July 2025 for runway repairs, apron expansion and terminal renovation, and reopened on 18 December 2025. The passenger terminal has two floors: arrivals on the ground floor and check-in on the upper floor.
Travellers heading to Ha Tinh usually skip central Vinh: the car takes National Route 1 or the Vinh bypass and crosses the Ben Thuy or Ben Thuy 2 bridge. For western Nghe An (former Do Luong, Con Cuong, Tuong Duong districts) the route is National Route 7 or 46.
From the airport to Cua Lo beach
Cua Lo is about 12–15 km from the airport, 20–25 minutes by car. The swimming season usually runs from about May to August. If you check in during the afternoon, stop at Lan Chau islet at the end of the beach for sunset, then have a seafood dinner along Binh Minh street.
A day at Kim Lien – Nam Dan
The Kim Lien relic site (former Nam Dan district) includes Sen village, President Ho Chi Minh's paternal home, and Hoang Tru village, his maternal home. It is about 25 km from the airport. Go in the morning and dress respectfully; the driver waits while you visit. In the afternoon you can add the Mai Hac De temple in Nam Dan.
Into Ha Tinh: Dong Loc junction and Thien Cam
The Dong Loc junction relic site (former Can Loc district) is about 50 km from the airport. Thien Cam beach (former Cam Xuyen district) is further, around 80 km. Both fit in one day, returning to Vinh or staying overnight in Ha Tinh city.
