Administrative changes to know
Since 1 July 2025 the new Dong Thap combines former Dong Thap and Tien Giang, centred in My Tho.
After 1 July 2025 the district level was removed; new addresses show only the commune or ward and the province or city. Locals and drivers still use old names, so for Tien Giang write your address as you know it or share a map location.

Cai Be and its floating market
Cai Be floating market gathers on the Tien River in the early morning; wholesale boats hang samples on a tall pole to show what they sell. Near the market are Cai Be church and workshops making rice paper, coconut candy and puffed rice. From here boats reach Tan Phong or An Huu islets for rambutan and mango orchards.
The Ong Kiet ancient house in Cai Be is a late 19th-century wooden home mixing Vietnamese, Chinese and French styles, open to visitors. Market in the morning, lunch at a garden house and back to HCMC in the afternoon fits in one day.
Old and new names
When booking you can use old names such as "My Tho, Tien Giang" or "Cai Be, Tien Giang"; drivers understand them. New documents show the ward or commune under Dong Thap province. The boat piers in My Tho and Cai Be keep their familiar names.
What to eat in Tien Giang
My Tho noodle soup uses chewy rice noodles from Go Cat, served dry or in broth with shrimp, pork and liver. Cai Be and Cai Lay are known for durian, Lo Ren star apples and Hoa Loc mangoes. Fruit season peaks about May–August; a car with a large boot lets you bring fruit home.
