Administrative changes to know
Since 1 July 2025 the new Lam Dong combines former Lam Dong, Dak Nong and Binh Thuan, with its centre in Da Lat.
The two-tier model (province, then commune or ward) applies from 1 July 2025, so old district names no longer appear on new documents. When booking for Ta Cu Mountain, old names, new names or a map pin all work.
Pick-up areas and choosing a vehicle
About 3 hours from HCMC by expressway then Highway 1. Pair Ta Cu with Ke Ga on the way to Mui Ne.
Cable car or trail

Ta Cu tourist area
Linh Son Truong Tho pagoda dates from the 19th century and is linked to the monk Huu Duc. The reclining Buddha on the mountain was built in 1966. The cable car from the base takes about 10 minutes, followed by a short climb on stone steps to the statue.
The summit air is cool but midday sun is strong; go in the morning, then head to Ke Ga or Phan Thiet for lunch.
On the way to the coast
Ta Cu is close to Highway 1 in Ham Thuan Nam, so it is a common stop between HCMC and Phan Thiet or Mui Ne. Tell us in advance and the driver takes you in, waits about 2 hours and continues. Families with children or older relatives should take the cable car rather than hiking.
Food and shopping
Ham Thuan Nam grows much dragon fruit; red- and white-fleshed fruit is sold at farms along Highway 1. For lunch try seafood in the Ke Ga fishing village or lau tha and banh can in Phan Thiet.
Going up Ta Cu
The Ta Cu cable car climbs to Linh Son Truong Tho pagoda in about 10 minutes; the footpath takes about 1.5–2 hours. The pagoda was founded by Venerable Huu Duc in the early 19th century. The reclining Buddha is 49 m long and 11 m high, completed in 1966. The summit has a Guanyin statue and forest trails. Ta Cu is about 28 km from Phan Thiet, near Ke Ga and Tan Thanh beaches, so it pairs well with a beach day.
Tips for Ta Cu
Cable car tickets are sold at the base. The way down on foot has many steps, so take the return cable car with elderly travellers.
