Administrative changes to know
Since 1 July 2025 the new Lam Dong combines former Lam Dong, Dak Nong and Binh Thuan, with its centre in Da Lat.
After 1 July 2025 the district level was removed; new addresses show only the commune or ward and the province or city. Locals and drivers still use old names, so for Binh Thuan write your address as you know it or share a map location.
Pick-up areas and choosing a vehicle
The expressway brings Phan Thiet to about 2.5 hours from HCMC. Many guests fly into Tan Son Nhat and continue by private car.

Mui Ne and its fishing village
Mui Ne fishing village has hundreds of basket boats in the bay and a seafood market on the beach in the morning. Fairy Stream is a shallow creek between red sand cliffs, about a 30-minute walk. The Po Sah Inu Cham towers on Ba Nai hill overlook Phan Thiet.
Mui Ne, Bau Trang and Ta Cu
Mui Ne, about 20 km from Phan Thiet centre, has the red dunes, Fairy Stream running shallow between red and white sand cliffs, and the fishing village with coracles moored at dawn. Bau Trang in Bac Binh, about 50 km on, is a white dune field around lotus lakes with off-road buggies. The windy season from about November to March draws kitesurfers.
Ke Ga lighthouse in Ham Thuan Nam was built by the French in the late 19th century, reached on foot or by boat at low tide. Ta Cu mountain, about 649 m, has a cable car to Linh Son Truong Tho pagoda and a 49 m reclining Buddha. The Po Sah Inu Cham towers on Ba Nai hill, Phan Thiet, date from about the 8th–9th centuries. Since 2025 Binh Thuan is part of the new Lam Dong province.
Binh Thuan specialities include Phan Thiet fish sauce, Ham Thuan dragon fruit, banh can, banh hoi with pork offal, lau tha and mai fish salad. The Dau Giay – Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet – Vinh Hao expressways make HCMC to Phan Thiet about 3–3.5 hours. Phu Quy island lies about 120 km offshore, reached by fast boat from Phan Thiet port.
