About Lung Cu Flag Tower
Lung Cu Flag Tower marks the northernmost point of Vietnam, in former Dong Van district of Ha Giang. It is part of the 3–4 day Ha Giang loop.
A flag at the frontier
The tower stands at about 1,470 m above sea level and is over 30 m tall including its base; the 54 m² flag stands for Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups. You climb stone steps from the foot of the hill, then a spiral staircase inside the tower to the viewing deck. Bronze reliefs around the base tell the history of the region. The true northernmost point is at Lung Cu cape on the Nho Que River, about 3 km as the crow flies from the tower, with a footpath down to the marker.

Which vehicles suit the Dong Van – Lung Cu road
The road from Dong Van to Lung Cu is narrow and steep with many hairpins. High-clearance 7-seaters such as the Fortuner or Innova suit groups of 3–5. Groups of 8–14 take a 16-seater with a driver used to northern passes. Vehicles of 29 seats or more should stop at Dong Van and switch to smaller cars for the tower.
