Flying in or out of Ho Chi Minh City over Tết 2027? Check which airport is on your ticket. Long Thành airport in Đồng Nai is expected to start commercial operations from 24 December 2026, with part of the terminal and a limited number of flights at first. Tân Sơn Nhất keeps operating. Sending the car to the wrong airport is the easiest peak-season mistake to make.
Your e-ticket shows the departure and arrival airports by name. In the first phase only some flights move to Long Thành and schedules may change, so recheck a few days before flying and tell us straight away if the airline switches airports.
Long Thành is about 40 km from central Ho Chi Minh City, mostly along the HCMC – Long Thành – Dầu Giây expressway. Travellers heading to the Mekong Delta can take the Bến Lức – Long Thành expressway and skip the city. At year-end peaks, journey times can double.
Your driver tracks the landing time, waits in the parking area each airport allows, and meets you in arrivals. We charge no airport waiting fee when flights are late.
If one group lands at Long Thành and another at Tân Sơn Nhất, send both flight details; we can send two cars or one car for both if the landings are far enough apart.
The aviation authority has agreed a three-phase move of flights to Long Thành. Knowing it helps you guess which airport your flight will use.

Tết 2027 falls in phase 1. Vietnamese airlines have registered some Long Thành routes: Vietnam Airlines to Beijing, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Manila and Hanoi; Vietjet to Hanoi, Hải Phòng, Vinh and Thanh Hóa. Most other domestic flights stay at Tân Sơn Nhất. Schedules can change, so your ticket is the final word.
Book a Long Thành pick-up and use the HCMC – Long Thành – Dầu Giây expressway into the city. Eastern entrances are busy in the evening peak and on weekends before Tết; the driver can adjust timing or route.
The Bến Lức – Long Thành expressway links towards Trung Lương without entering the city, a real plus for families going to Tiền Giang, Bến Tre, Vĩnh Long or Cần Thơ.
Long Thành is in Đồng Nai itself; Biên Hòa, Bà Rịa, Vũng Tàu or Phan Thiết by expressway are all closer than from Tân Sơn Nhất.
During the transition some itineraries land at one airport and continue from the other, such as an international arrival at Long Thành and a domestic flight from Tân Sơn Nhất. On separate tickets your bags are not transferred; you collect them and move yourself.
Travellers from central Vietnam taking a sleeper train to Saigon or Biên Hòa station before an international flight can book a car straight from the station. Biên Hòa station is on the same eastern side as Long Thành, handy for flights leaving there; Saigon station is closer to Tân Sơn Nhất. Send the train code, carriage and flight number so the driver times the pick-up.

If you fly out of Tân Sơn Nhất and want a last night in the city, ride back to Ho Chi Minh City a day early, see the centre, and head to the airport the next morning.
Tân Sơn Nhất still handles most domestic flights over Tết 2027. Pick-up lanes limit stopping time, so a pre-booked driver waits in the car park and comes to the lane only when you have your bags. Check the terminal on your ticket, as domestic and international terminals are separate, and tell us so the driver waits in the right place.
Roads around the airport such as Trường Sơn, Phạm Văn Đồng and Cộng Hòa are busy at rush hour. For departures, leave home earlier than usual, especially just before Tết.
The Long Thành run into the centre is longer than from Tân Sơn Nhất, so comfort matters more. Two or three people travelling light are fine in a 4–5 seater. Families with older relatives should pick a 7-seater or 9-seat limousine for wider seats and easy access. Business groups or large families with many bags need a 16-seater. Child seats on request, 2022–2025 cars; chauffeur prices include fuel and expressway tolls, and every quote gets 10% off. Send your route through the quick-quote form.
Whether you fly via Long Thành or Tân Sơn Nhất, send the flight number, terminal, headcount, suitcases and any stroller. For arrivals we track the actual landing time, so there is no waiting fee if you are late. For departures, give the take-off time and the driver works back with a buffer. A 4–5 seater takes about 3 suitcases, a 7-seater about 4; larger loads suit a 16-seater or 9-seat Limousine.
