A pickup is useful for tents, chairs and camping gear, but everyone still travels in the cab. List bulky equipment and check the campsite access before deciding on the vehicle.
Tell the operator about stoves, fuel, gas canisters and power packs so acceptance and packing requirements can be checked. Keep flammable materials away from heat and never cook inside the vehicle. A dirt track or grass area is not automatically open to vehicle access.
Tents, pegs, a gas stove, firewood and the cool box go in the bed, so sandy or muddy gear stays off the seats.
Many campsites end with a dirt track, and a pickup's ground clearance helps over the bumps.
Park on firm ground, not soft grass after rain. Use the open bed as a gear table, but never cook right next to the vehicle.
Some campsites permit access only to a parking area, not the tent pitches. Check access, weather conditions and unloading with the site manager. Declare camping equipment, power packs and any fuel to the operator. Arrange help for the final carrying section and choose self-drive or chauffeur around the full stay and return.
Include an overnight stay in the initial request so driver rest, parking, access and local availability can be checked. If only an outward and next-day return are needed, compare those two transfers and rescheduling terms. For continuous availability, specify required service windows; the two arrangements have different scopes.

Pack in waterproof boxes, with tents and chairs at the bottom and food and water near the tailgate. Bring straps and a tarp for rain, and keep valuables in the cab.
Check the campsite road before the trip, especially after rain. Leave the site clean and carry rubbish out with you.
See what fits in the Ranger bed and no passengers in the bed.
Can I cook next to the truck? Yes, at a safe distance and never inside.
Is the bed covered? It depends on the vehicle; ask at booking.
Ask the campsite for the correct vehicle entrance and a separate pin for the place where guests unload. A pin for the tent area may take you down a road that guests are not allowed to drive on. Ask if there is space to turn around, whether the gate will still be open at your arrival time, and what changes after heavy rain. If the site asks vehicles to stop at a main car park, find out how far the pitches are from there and whether staff can help move larger items.
Send that information to the rental team before choosing a pickup. For a self-drive booking, share the planned access road and check whether your rental terms permit it. If you are hiring a driver, agree on the drop-off and collection point before travelling. For example, a group arriving just before dark can ask whether it should unload inside the gate or move the gear from the main parking area. Knowing this in advance gives the group time to organize a trolley or ask the campsite about assistance.
Write down the number of passengers and make sure everyone has a designated seat in the cab. Then list your biggest items by size and approximate weight. A group bringing a folding gazebo, a large cooler and several water containers needs a different loading plan from a group with compact tents and backpacks. Include anything you plan to collect on the way, such as bags of ice or boxes of food. Ask the operator to check the bed dimensions, available tie-down points and permitted load for the assigned pickup.
Ask whether the bed comes with a cover and what it can accommodate when closed. Keep sleeping gear and clothing in bags or containers appropriate for the weather. Arrange the load so that it can be restrained at the vehicle’s designated points, and ask the handover team to show you where they are. Put the items you need first somewhere you can reach after parking. If the gear will not fit with the cover closed or cannot be secured as planned, reduce the load or ask about a second vehicle. Declare any cooking fuel and battery packs before deciding what you can bring.
For an overnight self-drive rental, check the handback time, mileage terms and whether you need to allow time to clean and unload before returning the pickup. Plan for the gear to take longer to pack if tents and chairs are wet. Ask the campsite if it has a covered loading area, and keep a separate container for muddy items so you can load them without repacking everything at the gate.
If you want a driver for the outward and return trips, send both service windows and say whether you need local rides during the stay. Ask for a quote that lists the stops, waiting arrangements and any overnight costs that apply. Share the campsite pin, passenger count and gear list through our car booking page so the rental team can check the route and vehicle together.
