Ha Tinh by car: Thien Cam beach, Huong Tich pagoda, Dong Loc junction and Tien Dien. Ha Tinh kept its provincial name after 2025. Since late April 2025, nearly 90 km of the North – South expressway through the province has been open, so cars from Hanoi can stay on the expressway to exits close to the sights.

Route and exits

• From Hanoi the expressway runs through Nghe An into Ha Tinh; the provincial centre is roughly 340–360 km away depending on your start.
• The Provincial Road 548 exit at Can Loc is handy for Dong Loc junction.
• The Cam Quan exit (Cam Xuyen) is the way to Thien Cam beach.
• The Nguyen Du memorial site at Tien Dien (Nghi Xuan) is near Ben Thuy bridge, an easy stop coming from Vinh.

Autumn and winter

From October central Vietnam enters its rainy season, with heavy spells lasting several days, so watch the forecast and keep plans flexible. Thien Cam is quiet and the sea cold, better for views and seafood. Huong Tich's main festival is in the second lunar month, so the weeks before Tết are calmer.

Suggested 2 days

• Day 1: Tien Dien – Dong Loc junction – overnight in town or at Thien Cam.
• Day 2: Huong Tich pagoda on Hong Linh mountain (electric shuttle and cable car, or on foot) – back to Hanoi or on to Quang Tri.

Tips

• Dong Loc is a memorial; keep it respectful.
• Wear grippy shoes for Huong Tich; stone steps get slick in rain.
• In storms, avoid coastal roads.

Small groups: a 7-seater. Heritage or tribute groups: a 29-seater or 16-seater. Combine north with Nghe An and Cua Lo, or south with Phong Nha.
