| Key facts | Details |
|---|---|
| Change | Former Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces now part of the city |
| Culinary | 21 themed culinary tourism programmes |
| Links | Metro to Suoi Tien, river to Cu Chi, Can Gio, Vung Tau |
One year after incorporating the former Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces, Ho Chi Minh City is linking urban attractions, waterways, beaches, mangroves and heritage. It has launched 21 themed culinary tourism programmes. From the centre, visitors can take the metro to Suoi Tien, travel by river to Cu Chi, explore Can Gio and continue to Vung Tau.
Vung Tau and Ho Tram are now inside the same city, so searches and pricing may use new names. A route from the centre to the coast uses several expressways, for example the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway.
Use the metro for the city core and a car for the outskirts.
| Vehicle | Best for |
|---|---|
| 4-seater | City day with metro for the core |
| 7-seater | Family day route to the outskirts |
| 16-seater van | Group tour across several areas |
List the districts or areas you want to see, and we will group them into a sensible route that mixes metro and car stretches. For a multi-stop day, a car with a driver in Ho Chi Minh City can pick up where the metro ends.
Tip from Car Rental Vietnam: When mixing metro and car, agree a specific meeting point with the driver, such as the station name and which side of the road, so you do not lose time finding each other.
