The Hon Heo peninsula shields Ninh Van Bay from the wind, so the water is clear and calm. The bay is home to resorts with villas built on the rocks and private beaches, such as Six Senses Ninh Van Bay and An Lam. There is no road into the bay; guests go to the resort's pier and take a 15–20 minute speedboat.

On the way to the pier you can stop at the Thap Ba or I-resort hot springs in Nha Trang; Hon Ba in Van Ninh is further. To the north are Van Phong Bay, Dam Mon and Diep Son island with its sandbar path across the sea. Ninh Hoa is known for its grilled pork rolls (nem nuong).
