About Hoan Kiem District
Hoan Kiem District is in Hanoi. Since 1 July 2025 Vietnam no longer has a district level, so the area is now made up of wards and communes under Hanoi. The Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake
Hoan Kiem is Hanoi's historic centre: the lake with Ngoc Son Temple and the red The Huc bridge, the 36 guild streets to the north, and the French Quarter to the south with the Opera House. Many international visitors stay here, so early airport runs and early starts for day trips are constant.
Hanoi abolished its districts in the 2025 reform. The lake and the Old Quarter now belong to Hoan Kiem Ward, while the area south and southwest of the lake (Cua Nam, Hang Bong, Hanoi Station) belongs to Cua Nam Ward.
Cars by group and purpose
Business travellers take a 4-seat sedan to the airport. Families of 4–6 with plenty of luggage use a 7-seater. Groups of 10–16 on Ha Long or Ninh Binh tours choose a 16-seater or a limousine. Getting picked up in the Old Quarter
Old Quarter streets are narrow and often one-way, and large vehicles are banned at peak hours. 4–7 seaters can reach the hotel door on nearly all streets; 16-seaters and up usually meet you on wider roads such as Tran Nguyen Han, Ly Thai To or Tran Quang Khai.

To Noi Bai and Hanoi Station
From the lake to Noi Bai Airport is about 30 km via Nhat Tan bridge and Vo Nguyen Giap road, usually 40–50 minutes and up to about 1.5 hours at rush hour. Hanoi Station is at the head of Le Duan street, under 2 km from the lake; night trains to Lao Cai and the reunification trains south leave from here.
