Tam Chuc pagoda
Tam Chuc pagoda sits beside Tam Chuc lake against limestone hills, with the Tam The, Phap Chu and Quan Am halls. From the main gate visitors take electric carts or boats across the lake; walking all the halls takes 2–3 hours. The car parks in the visitor lot and the driver waits.
Phu Ly and around
Phu Ly lies where the Day, Chau and Nhue rivers meet. Nearby are Lanh Giang temple in Duy Tien and Ba Danh pagoda in Kim Bang. Business travellers to the Dong Van and Hoa Mac industrial parks can hire a car by the day from Hanoi, about an hour away.

Ba Danh pagoda on the Day River is known from a saying about its quietness. Long Doi Son pagoda in Duy Tien has a Ly-dynasty stele. Vu Dai village in Ly Nhan is linked to Nam Cao's story Chi Pheo. Since 2025 Ha Nam is part of the new Ninh Binh province. From Hanoi Phu Ly is about 60 km on the Phap Van – Cau Gie expressway. Specialities include Nhan Hau braised fish, Phu Ly rice rolls and Dai Hoang royal bananas.

From Phu Ly Tam Chuc is about 15 km, around 25 minutes. Long Doi Son pagoda is about 15 km and Vu Dai village about 25 km. From Tam Chuc to Bai Dinh and Trang An in Ninh Binh is about an hour.
