Administrative changes to know
Since 1 July 2025 the area is Dat Mui commune, in the new Ca Mau (former Ca Mau and Bac Lieu).

Visitors can canoe through mangrove creeks and see the mudflats at low tide.
From Ca Mau city Dat Mui is about 110 km. A road now reaches the tourist area; there are also fast boats from Ca Mau to Nam Can with car or boat connections. Hon Da Bac in Tran Van Thoi has rock formations and a border post, often paired with Khai Long beach with silty sand beside the forest.
Specialities include Nam Can crab, Rach Goc dried shrimp and salted ba khia crab, mudskippers and U Minh forest honey. Bring insect repellent for forest trips.

The final stretch of road to Dat Mui is narrow, so 29- and 45-seaters should check turning points in advance. Nam Can has a floating market and the Nam Can bridge over the Cua Lon River.
