Administrative changes to know
Since 1 July 2025 the new Tay Ninh combines former Tay Ninh and Long An, with its centre in Tan An.
The two-tier model (province, then commune or ward) applies from 1 July 2025, so old district names no longer appear on new documents. When booking for Ba Den Mountain, old names, new names or a map pin all work.

Going up Ba Den mountain
Ba Den mountain rises about 986 m, a high peak in southern Vietnam. Cable cars run to Ba pagoda mid-slope and on to the summit with its bronze Buddha statue. Walking the stone steps to the pagoda takes about 1.5 hours. Weekdays are quiet; early-year pilgrimage season is very crowded, so go early.
From HCMC it is about 100 km, roughly 2 hours; pair it with the Cao Dai Holy See about 15 km away or Cu Chi tunnels on the way.
Cable cars and paths
Ba Den mountain, about 986 m, has Sun World cable cars to Ba pagoda and to the summit with a bronze Buddha statue about 72 m tall. Linh Son Tien Thach pagoda sits halfway up. Walking to the pagoda takes about 1–2 hours. The spring festival runs after Tet. The mountain is about 11 km from the Holy See, so both fit in one day.
Planning notes for Nui Ba Den
Ba Den mountain has two main areas: the base with Ba pagoda and cable cars, and the summit with the bronze Buddha and gardens. A full visit usually takes 3–4 hours. Weekends and the early-year festival bring long cable car queues, so arrive at opening. The summit is a few degrees cooler and may be cloudy in the afternoon.
