Worker coaches from Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong for Tết are how many companies and workplace unions look after staff from Tiền Giang, Vĩnh Long, Cần Thơ, Sóc Trăng and Cà Mau. The city's free-coach programmes in recent years have mostly served central and northern routes, so Mekong trips are usually organised by the employer. This guide covers choosing coaches, planning drop-off points, the paperwork, and a two-way schedule for Tết 2027.
Many Mekong workers are used to riding home by motorbike because it is not far, but 150–300 km in holiday traffic is tiring and risky, especially with small children and Tết gifts. A company coach gets staff home safely and also tells the employer who will be back at work on the right day.
The official holiday runs from 4 to 10 February 2027 (the 28th of the last lunar month to the 5th day of Tết). Many firms close earlier; the easiest departures are the mornings of 3 or 4 February, before traffic peaks. Return pick-ups usually fall on the 5th or 6th day; fix the time at each stop when booking and remind staff the day before.
Group coaches for Tết fill up early. Send a draft list first and confirm the number of coaches when the final list is ready. Tết bookings need a deposit of about 10%; an 8% VAT invoice is available for companies.
| When | Task |
|---|---|
| December 2026 | Finalise lists, book vehicles, pay about 10% deposit |
| Evening of 3 Feb 2027 | Depart after the shift, avoiding the morning of 4 Feb |
| 6th–7th day (11–12 Feb) | Bring workers back to the factory |
Workers usually carry several bags and gift boxes. A 16-seater holds roughly 6–8 suitcases; with 15 people carrying big bags, limit each to one large and one small bag, or add a luggage vehicle. No bulky goods or flammables.
Contracts are signed by both parties; 8% VAT invoices on request. Every quote gets 10% off; chauffeur prices include fuel and tolls.
| Workers on one route | Plan |
|---|---|
| Under 7 | One 7-seater, about 4 suitcases |
| 8–15 | One 16-seater, about 6–8 suitcases |
| 16–30 | Two 16-seaters on the same route, shared stops |
| Over 30 | Several 16-seaters split by province, staggered departures |
With several vehicles, split by drop-off clusters so each takes the shortest route. Workers far from the main road should arrange family pick-up at the drop point.
For many workers, the trip home for Tết is the most important journey of the year. Coach tickets are hard to get, stations are crowded, and long motorbike rides are risky. When an employer arranges the trip home and back, workers feel secure, travel on the right day and return on time. It also cuts the risk of accidents on motorbike journeys of hundreds of kilometres.
For best results, announce the scheme in November or December, let workers register routes and publish the schedule. Adding a return pick-up after Tết helps ensure a full team on the first working day.
The HCMC – Cần Thơ – Cà Mau route is long; stop at service areas on the Trung Lương – Mỹ Thuận expressway or around Cần Thơ. Employers can provide snacks and water. Agree stop times and do a head count before moving off.
A 16-seater to the Mekong often carries workers from several boarding houses to several provinces. The organiser should list each person's name, phone, pickup, drop-off and number of bags. Ordering drop-offs along one road, for example the National Route 1 corridor through Đồng Tháp, Vĩnh Long and Cần Thơ, saves backtracking. Those far off the main road can be dropped in the nearest town for family to collect. Send the list with the form for an accurate quote.
Workers heading home often bring bedding, a child's bicycle and gift boxes. A 16-seater holds about 6–8 suitcases; tell us about bulky items so the driver can pack them or suggest fewer passengers. No flammables, unsealed liquids or live animals. Each person should keep a small bag with ID, cash and phone with them, not in the back.
Many companies hire vehicles to send workers home as a Tết benefit. When booking as a company, give the number of trips, passengers per trip, departure time from the factory gate and the provinces served. We issue 8% VAT invoices on request. Tết 2027 (4–10 February 2027) needs a deposit of about 10%; confirm early as 16-seaters are booked early. Chauffeur prices include fuel and tolls, and every quote gets 10% off.
Many groups travel overnight to arrive home by morning. The driver takes breaks to stay alert; passengers keep seat belts on even while sleeping and stay seated while moving. Eat lightly before leaving, bring a jacket for the night-time air-conditioning and save the driver's number.
Many companies set Tết 2027 leave that differs from the official 4–10 February break. Send your leave start and return-to-work dates so we can schedule both legs. Return traffic peaks on the afternoons of days 5 and 6; leaving in the morning gives time to rest before a shift. The same vehicle can collect the group for the return using the original list.
If numbers change, tell us early so we can adjust the vehicle.
