Administrative changes to know

Ba Dong beach and mangroves
Ba Dong beach in Duyen Hai has sand lined with casuarina trees; the silty water is light brown. Nearby are coastal wind farms and mangroves, and the shoreline eateries sell crab, blood cockles and clams.
Ba Om pond, Khmer pagodas and Ba Dong beach
Ba Om pond, about 5 km from Tra Vinh centre, is a rectangular pond lined with old dipterocarp trees whose roots rise from sandy banks. Beside it are Ang pagoda, among the province's old Khmer pagodas, and the Khmer Culture Museum with instruments, ngo boats and costumes. Tra Vinh has over a hundred Khmer pagodas, many with pointed roofs decorated with Naga serpents and Krud birds.
Hang pagoda (Kompong Chray) in Chau Thanh has a cave-like arch gate and storks nesting in its trees, busy at dusk. Ba Dong beach in Duyen Hai has silty sand, casuarina rows and coastal wind turbines; silt makes the water murky, so it is for walks and seafood. Since 2025 Tra Vinh is part of the new Vinh Long province; old names still work when booking.
Try bun nuoc leo, Ben Co noodle soup, Tra Cuon sticky rice cake, tamarind chu u crab, and Cau Ke wax coconut with dense flesh. The Ok Om Bok festival on the full moon of the tenth lunar month includes ngo boat races.
