About Nghe An

Near Vinh are Cuong temple (King An Duong Vuong) in Dien Chau and Truong Bon in Do Luong, which combine into a day trip along Highway 7 or Highway 1.
Western Nghe An
Highway 7 climbs to Con Cuong and Tuong Duong, Thai country with homestays in Xieng and Nua villages. The road is scenic with some passes; 7- or 16-seaters suit families. Nam Can border gate to Laos lies at the end, about 250 km from Vinh.
Cua Lo beach and around
Cua Lo beach runs about 10 km, with Lan Chau island to the north and Ngu island offshore. Nearby are Nghi Thiet beach, Quynh beach and the Thanh Chuong tea island west of Vinh, about 50 km away and lovely on misty mornings.
Kim Lien, Cua Lo and western Nghe An
The Kim Lien site in Nam Dan includes Sen village and Hoang Tru village, President Ho Chi Minh's paternal and maternal homes, with free entry. Cua Lo beach, about 16 km from Vinh, faces Lan Chau and Ngu islands. Pu Mat National Park in Con Cuong has Kem falls. Nghe An kept its boundaries in 2025. Specialities include eel porridge and soup, Thanh Chuong pickled jackfruit, Vinh oranges and Dien Chau rice sheets.
