Administrative changes to know
Since 1 July 2025 the new Lam Dong combines former Lam Dong, Dak Nong and Binh Thuan, with its centre in Da Lat.
Since 1 July 2025 local government has two tiers: province or city, and commune or ward. Districts no longer exist, but old names are still used every day. When booking in Lam Dong, write your address the way you know it or send a map pin; drivers understand both old and new names.

HCMC to Da Lat is about 300 km, 6–7 hours via Bao Loc. Da Lat to Phan Thiet is about 160 km. Lien Khuong to Da Lat is about 30 km.

Da Lat in a day
Da Lat has Xuan Huong lake, Da Lat market, the old railway station, Bao Dai's palace and the Truc Lam monastery by Tuyen Lam lake. Outside town are the Cau Dat tea hills, Van Thanh flower village and Datanla falls. The dry season, about November–April, is clear; in the rainy season afternoons bring showers.
Da Lat and around
Da Lat has Xuan Huong lake, the market, the railway station with a vintage train to Trai Mat, Bao Dai's palace, the Rooster church, Truc Lam monastery by Tuyen Lam lake, the Cau Dat tea hills and Datanla falls with its alpine coaster. Langbiang mountain in Lac Duong, about 2,167 m, has jeeps to Radar peak. Cu Lan village, the Valley of Love and the flower gardens are common stops.
Since 2025 the new Lam Dong combines Lam Dong, Dak Nong and Binh Thuan, spanning highlands and the Mui Ne coast. Lien Khuong airport is about 30 km from Da Lat via the Lien Khuong – Prenn expressway. Specialities include artichoke, strawberries, vegetables, candied fruit, banh can, grilled rice paper, chicken hotpot with e leaves and soy milk.
Tips for Lam Dong
Da Lat holds its flower festival periodically at the end of the year. Prenn, Mimosa and Khanh Le passes are the roads up to Da Lat.
Planning notes for Lam Dong
From HCMC Da Lat is about 300 km, roughly 6–7 hours via the Dau Giay expressway, Highway 20, Bao Loc pass and the Lien Khuong – Prenn expressway. Many groups stop for lunch in Bao Loc, about halfway.
